INSPIRE2018, the biannual conference of ISST, is about to start and as the vice president of ISST, with INSPIRE2018 being my primary responsibility, I’m looking forward to welcome you in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam.
A lot of people have been working extremely hard over the last 2 years to make this event a success. Members of the organizing committee of ISST’s Executive Board have spent many, many hours to create the conference website, the conference-app, processing the hundreds of registrations and selections (Travis Atkinson); keeping this conference financially liable and resolving many practical problems (Eckhard Roediger); reviewing the submitted clinical presentations and creating an inspiring clinical program (Joan Farrell); and reviewing the submitted scientific presentations and creating an outstanding scientific program (Paul Kasyanik). In addition, my local organizing committee has done such a great job that I would like to take this opportunity to highlight each of them:
Marja van der Meulen, consulting conference organizer, who’s solved these thousands of practical issues that arise when bringing 1000 people together. Without her, we wouldn’t be having this great conference venue. She’s brilliant and she will be the person who will be solving problems you encounter during the conference days.
Hélène Bögels, board member of the Dutch Society for Schema Therapy, who supported in numerous ways, e.g. she helped to get this conference accredited by some Dutch professional organizations and arranged an important part of the gala dinner on Saturday evening.
Sammy Peter, board member of the Dutch CBT organization, who played an essential role in getting this conference accredited by Dutch organizations, and promoted among Dutch therapists.
Hannie van Genderen who has been a valuable source of information and advice, based on her long experience of being member of the board for the Dutch and International society for schema therapy.
Odette Brand, board member of the Dutch Society for Schema therapy who organized the biannual conference for the Dutch Society for Schema therapy last year. She’s been an expert in solving difficult problems in a clear and pragmatic way.
Marjon Nadort, who played a crucial role in getting the social events organized, providing color to the event. Regrettably, Marjon is not able to join us at the conference due to health reasons, but her influence will be felt, even though she will be deeply missed.
I’m happy and proud to say that we’ve managed to organize an excellent program in one of the most beautiful conference sites in Amsterdam, the Beurs van Berlage. There will be inspiring presentations, good food and drinks and beautiful music. I hope INSPIRE2018 will be a great experience, one that leaves you with good memories for the time to come.
